Mjölnir, Thorin vasara riipus
Thorshammer Schmuck-Anhänger aus Stahl, handgeschmiedet
Mjölnir (= the grinder or crusher) is the mighty hammer of Thor, the Norse god of thunder and second highest deity after his father Odin. According to mythology, Mjölnir was forged by the dwarf Brokkr and, once thrown, would never miss its target. It was with this very hammer that Thor defeated the giants who incessantly threatened the Vanir and the Æsir pantheons.
This hand-forged iron Mjölnir consists of two parts (shaft and hammerhead) riveted together. The solid steel ring is also closed with rivets.
The surface was left in its natural state and has a characteristic out-of-the-forge scale layer that lends a rustic, authentic character to this nice piece of Viking jewellery.
A fine, sturdy work of blacksmithing art.
