Viking tent without frame, 3 x 2.7 x 2 m, 350 gms
Viking tents have many advantages over other medieval tents: They are robust, have a stable construction (which also guarantees storage on firm floors, since pegs are not absolutely necessary) and you can let your creativity run free with the design of your frame.
The well-known models are based on the finds in Oseberg and Gokstad, which, however, were not fully preserved and are therefore partially reconstructed based on educated assumptions.
Nothing precise can be said about the actual use of these tents. It is not entirely clear whether they were really used outdoors, or only for the Althing. Another theory suggests that they were market tents. The word kramer was formed from cram from Old High German, which means tent. Accordingly, they were used in markets in natural ports.
Since the size of the original finds would be a logistical challenge for most of us, we made them a bit smaller and therefore more manageable. The Viking tent with the dimensions 3.0 x 2.7 x 2 m fits up to three people with luggage, the smaller version with 2.0 x 2.3 x 1.8 m offers space for two people.
Please note that the tent is delivered without a frame.
